The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled defenceman Korbinian Holzer from the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies, the team announced on Sunday.
Ryan Hamilton was assigned to the Marlies to make room on the Leafs' 23-man roster.
Carl Gunnarsson, who sat out Saturday's 1-0 loss to the Boston Bruins, did not participate in practice Sunday and his status for Monday's game against Carolina is unknown.
Holzer played 15:09 with two shots on goal and was a minus-1 against Buffalo Jan. 21, his only appearance with the Leafs this season.
