ah. am giving up (for now). i've tried everything i can find (including audirvana), and always end up with...static.

if anyone has miles davis 'in a silent way' as a dvd-a file (i guess: audio ts and video ts folders), feel free to PM me. and thanx everyone who's gotten to me, i appreciate it!

There are only a few programs that will even do surround with flac and I am not sure that they are DTS flac compatible. DTS wavs have been known to play with some players.  There are many things going on.  One is that macs dont change the sampling rate and word length with the material.  So you would have to adjust them before playing DTS at least.  Second if you are using iTunes forget it. I think Audionirvana and Decibel did surround but they were picky in the formats they chose.  I typically take DTS wav files in JRiver on windows convert to flac then use a program that supports the format to play them.  VLC sometimes does the trick.  XMBC used to work for a non audiophile quick fix but you must find a third party software player to make it work.
