{allcanada} JETS' PROSPECT KOSMACHUK SCORING IN BUNCHES

Scott Kosmachuk has the innate ability to score goals in bunches, according to The Winnipeg Sun.

The right-winger, chosen in the third round (70th overall) by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, is currently riding one of those hot streaks, one that helped him capture both Ontario Hockey League and Canadian Hockey League player of the week honours.

"Personally, I got off to a little bit of a slow start but kept working at things," said Kosmachuk, who has 18 goals and 32 points in 27 games with the Guelph Storm this season. "You just have to stay with it, get back to basics and keep working hard. Things will come. I picked it up a little bit."

In fact, Kosmachuk picked it up to the tune of recording six goals — including a hat trick last Saturday — and eight points during his past three games, leaving him tied for 20th in Ontario Hockey League scoring.

The aim for this season for Kosmachuk is to improve on his offensive totals, while working on his consistency.

"(The Jets) have seen I can put the puck in the net," said Kosmachuk. "They just want to see different sides of my game, three-zone play, commitment to defence, to be a little more physical as well as keeping up the offensive side of my game."

Kosmachuk admits he wasn't one of those kids who was glued to the TV every time an NHL game came on, but growing up in Toronto, he came to appreciate watching Mats Sundin during his days as captain of the Leafs.

"That's a guy I watched a lot. He's one of the players that stood out to me," said Kosmachuk, a product of the Toronto Marlboros program that has produced many NHLers. "He's a great leader, a great player and he sacrificed himself for the team."
