{allcanada} WINNIPEG'S POPE GOOD TWICE DURING WENDY'S KICK FOR A MILLION

Winnipeg, MB's Richard Pope is heading home a big winner, as the 35-year-old multimedia editor pocketed $112,598 in cash and prizes after successfully kicking field goals from 20 and 30 yards during the Wendy's Kick for a Million. The marquee event aired live nationally on TSN at halftime of the CFL ON TSN: WENDY'S FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL broadcast featuring Winnipeg at Toronto at Rogers Centre.

For making field goals from 20 and 30 yards, Pope takes home a $25,000 Gift Card from The Source and a Nissan Titan PRO-4X (retail value: $45,598).

Pope also attempted a field goal from 50 yards for the grand prize of $1 million in a one-time payout. While Pope's kick came up short, he was awarded $1,000 for every yard the ball travelled from the 50-yard line, netting him an additional $42,000 cash.

Pope was randomly selected from more than 14 million total entries submitted for TSN and Wendy's eighth annual, international award-winning million dollar giveaway. He defeated Burlington, ON's Dave Swanston in the Wendy's Kick for a Million semifinal yesterday at Rogers Centre to advance to tonight's final.

When he's not working at the Winnipeg Sun, Pope spends his time playing recreational soccer, hockey and softball. He is a proud supporter of both the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Saskatchewan Roughriders – although he does confess that the Riders are his top team and Chris Getzlaf is his favourite CFL player. Pope honed his kicking technique with help from Blue Bombers kicker Justin Palardy and alumnus Troy Westwood. Pope amassed 1,047 entries in this year's Wendy's Kick for a Million contest.

Tonight's event signals the end of this year's Wendy's Kick for a Million contest – one of TSN's most popular fan giveaways. All winners are subject to confirmation of contest eligibility.
