Chase de Leo scored once and set up two more as the Portland Winterhawks defeated the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds 6-1 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.
Troy Rutkowski, Ty Rattie and Taylor Peters each had a goal and an assist for the Winterhawks (8-3-1), who have won four of their last five outings, while Nicolas Petan chipped in with three assists.
Keegan Iverson and Dominic Turgeon had a goal apiece to round out Portland's offence.
Luke Lockhart scored the lone goal for the Thunderbirds (5-5-0), who have dropped back-to-back games and sit last in the U.S. Division.
Mac Carruth made 22 saves for the win as Brandon Glover turned away 37 shots in a losing cause.
Portland went 1-for-4 on the power play while Seattle failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.
Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Edmonton 4, Medicine Hat 2; Kamloops 6, Kootenay 3; Lethbridge 4, Moose Jaw 3 (OT); Tri-City 2, Swift Current 1; Everett 3, Saskatoon 2; Calgary 5, Vancouver 4; Kelowna 4, Brandon 2 and Spokane 3, Prince George 2.
At Portland, Ore., Lockhart scored 1:35 into the first period for Seattle, but that was the end of his club's offence for the rest of the night.
Turgeon and Peters scored less than five minutes apart to give the Winterhawks a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes of play.
It looked like the game would stay that way until the third period, however Rutkowski scored on the power play with only one second remaining in the second.
De Leo, Rattie and Iverson all scored within a three minute span in the third period to secure the victory for Portland.
