{allcanada} SAINT JOHN TO HOST SKATE CANADA INTERNATIONAL EVENT IN 2013

OTTAWA - Saint John was named host city for the 2013 Skate Canada International event on Tuesday.

It is the second competition in the annual ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series. The 2012 event will be held this week in Windsor, Ont.

The Saint John event will be held at the Harbour Station from Oct. 25-27, 2013.

"Skate Canada is pleased to bring a skating event of this level back to Saint John," Skate Canada president Benoit Lavoie said in a release. "Hosting an event of this calibre involves participation from many different areas and we are confident that Saint John will put on an outstanding event."

The city previously staged the event in 1995 and 1999. Saint John also hosted the ISU world junior figure skating championships in 1997.
