{allcanada} QMJHL: RED-HOT STRAKA LEADS DRAKKAR PAST SEA DOGS

Last Minute Flight Deals  

Petr Straka scored twice as the Baie-Comeau Drakkar defeated the visiting Saint John Sea Dogs 6-2 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The 20-year-old forward now has four goals and seven points in his last three games.

Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau scored once and set up two more for the Drakkar (7-4-1), who have won three of their last four outings, while Samuel Noreau and Valentin Zykov each had a goal and an assist.

Frederic Gamelin and Francis Turbide had two assists apiece and Carl Gelinas scored a single goal to round out Baie-Comeau's offence.

Jakub Izacky and Ryan Tesink scored for the Sea Dogs (6-7-0).

Philippe Cadorette stopped 19 shots for the win as Alex Fournier turned away 24-of-30 shots in a losing cause.

Baie Comeau was successful on the power play, going 3-for-8, while Saint John failed to score on its only opportunity with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Blainville-Boisbriand 2, Chicoutmi 1; P.E.I. 2, Sherbrooke 0 and Rouyn-Noranda 7, Gatineau 6 (OT).

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Izacky opened the scoring for Saint John 7:40 into the first period, however Zykov and Straka scored three minutes apart to give the Drakkar a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Noreau scored the only goal of the second period and it came by way of the power play at 19:20.

Tesink brought the Sea Dogs within a goal at 7:15 of the third period, but Paquin-Boudreau restored a two-goal lead for Baie-Comeau at 10:38.

Gelinas and Straka added on a power-play goal each, only 18 seconds, apart late in the third period to secure the victory.

At Chicoutimi, Que., Nikita Jevpalovs scored both of his club's goals and Storm Phaeuf stopped 22 shots as Blainville-Boisbriand (9-2-0) edged the Sagueneens(6-6-2) to move into second overall in the QMJHL standings.

At Charlottetown, Antoine Bibeau stopped all 23 shots he faced and Victor Provencher's first period goal stood up as the winner as P.E.I (9-4-0) blanked Sherbrooke (2-10-6), which sits last in league standings.

Huskies 7 Olympiques 6 (OT)

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Justin Guenette forced overtime by scoring at 18:49 of the third period and Gabriel Desjardins followed by scoring the overtime winner as the Huskies (8-3-1) came from behind to defeat Gatineau (4-7-1).
