Edmonton Oilers forward Taylor Hall is reportedly in the final stages of recovery from shoulder surgery but will not play until November.

Hall is skating with Edmonton's American Hockey League farm team in Oklahoma City but will not suit up with the Barons until he gets the OK from the parent club.

"I still have to go back to Edmonton to get clearance from the doctor in Edmonton," Hall told the Edmonton Journal. "I'm sure I won't play games until November."

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NHL draft had 27 goals and 26 assists in 61 games last year before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery. Hall, 20, signed a seven-year contract extension with the Oilers in August and continues to receive his NHL salary while he recovers.

"It's a bit of a weird situation … I know I just signed for $42 million but everybody knows I love to play no matter what they pay me, and right now they're paying me when I'm not playing," Hall explained.

Hall said his shoulder "feels strong" and he's looking forward to returning to action.

"Just practising sucks," Hall said. "I've been doing it for a month and a half now."
