{allcanada} OHL: LEAFS PROSPECT FINN LEADS STORM PAST SPIRIT

Matt Finn scored twice and set up one more as the Guelph Storm downed the host Saginaw Spirit 8-5 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

The 18-year-old Toronto Maple Leafs prospect now has five goals and 12 points in 11 games, which is good for second in scoring for OHL defenceman. He sits two points behind the Niagara IceDogs' Dougie Hamilton, who has 14 points in 13 games.

Hunter Garlent had one goal and three assists for the Storm (8-2-1), who won their fourth straight contest, and Jason Dickinson had a goal and two assists.

Tanner Richard and Scott Kosmachuk each had a goal and an assist while Zack Mitchell and Cody McNaughton each scored once to round out Guelph's offence.

Eric Locke led the Storm (4-6-2) offensively with two goals and two assists, Vincent Trocheck had a goal and an assist while Garret Ross and Sam Povorozniouk scored a goal apiece.

Garret Sparks made 41 saves for the win as Jake Paterson allowed all eight goals against on 40 shots in a losing cause.

Guelph was successful with its power play as they went 3-for-5. Saginaw went 1-for-7.

Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: Windsor 3, Erie 2; Niagara 4, Kingston 2; Kitchener 5, Sarnia 3; London 3, Barrie 2 (SO) and Oshawa 2, Owen Sound 1.

At Saginaw, Mich., Finn opened the scoring 5:47 into the first period.

Locke responded for the Spirit at 12:06, but Mitchell scored in the final minute of the period to give Guelph a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Richard and Garlent scored early in the second period to increase the Storm's lead to three goals, however Ross and Locke scored two minutes apart to make it 4-3 Guelph.

McNaughton and Finn added two more goals for the Storm to make it 6-3 heading into the final period.

Trocheck scored for Saginaw 3:03 into the third, but power-play goals from Dickinson and Kosmachuk that came just 18 seconds apart stopped any chance of the Spirit making a comeback.

Povorozniouk added one more to the board for Saginaw with 1:29 to play in the game.

At Erie, Pa., Kerby Rychel scored twice, including the winner, and Chris Marchese and Josh Ho-Sang chipped in with two assists each as Windsor (6-4-3) edged the Otters (3-7-2).

At St Catharine's, Ont., Brett Ritchie scored twice, including the game-winning goal, and Christopher Festarini made 35 saves as the IceDogs (8-4-1) came from two goals down to defeat Kingston (5-5-0).

At Sarnia, Ont., Tobias Rieder scored two goals, including the game winner, and John Gibson made 26 saves as Kitchener (5-4-1) handed the Sting (5-6-1) their third straight defeat.

At Barrie, Ont., Matt Rupert scored the shootout winner and Jake Patterson made 26 saves in his first start for London as the Knights (6-3-1) halted the Colts' (9-2-1) eight-game winning streak.

Generals 2 Attack 1

At Owen Sound, Ont., Daniel Altshuller stopped 26-of-27 shots and Scott Laughton scored the winner midway through the second period as Oshawa (8-3-1) slipped past the Attack (8-2-1), who lost for the first time in six outings.
