Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane has been suspended for one game in the Kontinental Hockey League for a hit to the head.
The play occurred on Monday when Kane hit Avangard Omsk's Nikita Pivtsakin. Kane will miss Wednesday's game against HC Yugra.
The KHL discipline committee had an option to suspend Kane for a maximum of five games, but opted for just one.
It has been a rough start in the KHL for the Jets forward, who has failed to register a point in five games, and had his fitness level questioned by the coaching staff earlier in the month.
Kane signed a six-year, $31.5 million deal with the Jets before the National Hockey League locked out its players on September 15.
