WEST VANCOUVER, B.C. -- Igor Sijsling validated his No. 1 ranking on Sunday, capturing the men's singles crown at the Odlum Brown Vancouver Open.

The Dutchman beat Ukraine's Sergei Bubka 6-1, 7-5 in the final at the Hollyburn Country Club in West Vancouver, B.C., to win the US$14,400 top prize.

In men's doubles action, Belgian duo Maxime Authom and Ruben Bemelmans topped Australians John Peers and John-Patrick Smith 6-4, 6-2 for the trophy.

The women's singles final was an all-American affair, with Mallory Burdette thumping compatriot Jessica Pegula 6-3, 6-0. With the win, Burdette earns a wild card spot at the U.S. Open in New York, which begins later this month.

On Saturday, Israel's Julia Glushko and Australia's Olivia Rogowska won a tight women's doubles final against Americans Jacqueline Cako and Natalie Pluskota 6-4, 5-7, 10-8.

Frank Dancevic of Niagara Falls, Ont., was the only Canadian to make a semifinal, falling to Sijsling in men's singles play on Saturday.
