OTTAWA - Ontario's highest court has ruled against a group opposed to the redevelopment of Ottawa's Lansdowne Park -- essentially eliminating the last legal challenge to the $300-million project.
The Ontario Court of Appeal said in the decision released Wednesday that it will not hear the appeal by the Lansdowne Park Conservancy.
It ordered the group to pay $1,000 in legal costs to the City of Ottawa.
The group had argued in a lower court back in March that the city had committed an abuse of practice when it awarded the project to the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group.
But the lower court disagreed with the conservancy and awarded the city $10,000 in costs.
The group could continue its legal battle by taking it all the way to the Supreme Court, but there's no immediate word if it will do so.
