I bought a cheap 7" monitor to hook up to the Oppo so I don't have to turn on my large DLP TV when playing music, but I can still see what is being displayed on a screen. I have it hooked up via component cables to the Oppo. This saves the DLP bulb on my TV, but it also avoids an HDMI handshake with the TV. Maybe this would be an option if you need a screen to display song titles, etc, but don't have another way to connect your TV with the Oppo besides HDMI,

When the TV is open, it says SACD PCM MCH on the panel, and when it is
closed it says only SACD MCH-
I guess it means it plays DSD when the TV is off?
