Winamp and KMPlayer on a PC kill off my Denon - can the Oppo cope with 120k audio tracks in every format? (all lossless) and video too??

Apples vs. Oranges.

A buggy piece of software that needs a pc to run on vs. a well-built, well-engineered consumer electronic equipment.

Foobar does the same, but that doesn't replace an Oppo. Don't you need some hardware to go with that?

FWIW, the latest build of J River Media Center can read and play back SACD ISO's in 2.0 and 5.1. No $10,000 black market OPPO required.

Just sayin'...

I know someone that bought a 93 from Amazon last month that still had the old firmware.  I guess you could take a chance and buy it, and then return it if it had new firmware.

Also, you can buy them on e-bay, but for a premium.

Wouldn't any new one you buy already be crippled (not able to play ISOs) out of the box?

As usual, Det. Columbo <g> is correct.  The Oppo 93/95 players did a marvelous job of playing back ISO files.  I find this the most convenient way for me to store my surround sound music on my hard disc.  Not only can my Oppo play back these files seamlessly, but it also allows me to quickly create a burned copy ready to be played by *any* DVD/DVD-Audio/Blu-ray player by simply dragging and dropping the ISO file onto ImgBurn.

For these reasons, I have refused to update my BDP-93 with the newer firmware.  And, keep in mind, once you update an Oppo with the newer firmware, you *cannot* go back to an older version.  I am seriously considering buying another unit to keep in storage in the event my current one goes down...
