The St. Louis Blues' offence got a shot in the arm Saturday by locking down one of the organization's top prospects.
Doug Armstrong confirmed to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the team has agreed to a contract in principal with Vladimir Tarasenko.
He is expected to officially sign on July 1.
Tarasenko was taken by the Blues in the first round (16th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
He produced in the Kontinental Hockey League this season, scoring 23 goals and 24 assists in 54 games split between HC Sibir and SKA St. Petersburg.
Tarasenko was also instrumental in helping Russia capture the 2011 World Junior Hockey Championship gold medal, scoring four goals and seven assists in seven games.
