They're sexy -- and Canada knew it first.

"Canada as a whole is like our second home, we've been there the most out of any other place," says Redfoo (actually Stefan Kendal Gordy) of party rockers LMFAO.

"I mean we went No. 1 in Canada before anywhere in the world and it actually showed our record label that Party Rock Anthem could be No. 1."

So who better to co-host Sunday's MuchMusic Video Awards than the duo, comprised of 37-year-old afro-and-glasses-wearing Redfoo and his 26-year-old nephew SkyBlu (actually Skyler Austen Gordy)? Especially when Redfoo promises "just one strong-ass show."

He elaborates: "We could just get off the plane to the show and just pull it off. And when I say pull it off, I literally mean pull it off."

Yes, LMFAO have been known to pull off their detachable pants and expose their elaborately decorated skivvies during hits like Sexy and I Know It and Party Rock Anthem.

"A lot of the stuff it seams kind of silly and party but it's really, really well thought out and planned," says Redfoo, the son of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy who he claims is "our No. 1 fan."

Still, the duo -- who had only released two albums since 2009 before appearing at this year's Super Bowl half-time show with Madonna -- have a lot to live up when it comes to the outrageous factor at the MMVAs.

Redfoo -- who was previously a day trader before he bought a drum kit, started DJing and discovered house music -- believes LMFAO's fast rise to the top can be attributed to their feel-good music which they created to make themselves feel better after both going through break-ups.

"We said, 'Man, let's build this new world of all party, all happy, all you want to do is go to pool parties,'" Redfoo says.

"It was about expressing yourself. The way you dress, the way you interact at a party. ... And then it just resonated with people because now the music is a true escape. It's a fantasy world."

The most two high profile Canadian performers on Sunday night's MMVAs will be Justin Bieber and his recent label signing Carly Rae Jepsen, and Redfoo is a fan of both.

"I think Bieber's a winner," Redfoo says.

"I think he's smart. I think he's talented. And I think he's growing up right in front of us which is a spectacle to see, making that transition to 18 years old. But he's incredible, he's a self-made artist from YouTube .... He had that confidence to get out there, and to make music, and put it for the world to see."

Bieber's main squeeze Selena Gomez was a last minute MMVAs presenter, but Redfoo thinks Jepsen is the one to watch: "She's one of my favourite female acts right now. She embodies the spirit of cute."
