Re: [SurroundSound] Yessongs on Blu-Ray

Yes, I saw it in Boston when it originally came out.   However, seeing as I was pretty young and not the most discriminating listener, I thought the whole thing was awesome, although too short.   Everyone else I know who saw the movie back then had opinions more like yours, where they thought the sound was kind of spotty..
Concerning Yessongs,  it was always my impression that it was live to 2-track, which would make a new mix impossible.  Any confirmation of that.   Seeing as Yessongs was done as quad, I suppose it could have been mixed on the fly but doubt it.  Maybe there's multitracks lying around somewhere.  - CP

I saw Yessongs in a NYC theater when the film was first released in the USA. The sound even then -- nominally 'quad' (I suspect it was 3 front channels, and one channel distributed in mono to two rear speakers) -- was not that great, though others have different recollections -- see this thread for more anecdotes: http://www.quadraphonicquad.com/forums/showthread.php?3078-Yessongs-Quad (I say the movie always sounded like the Yessongs album, only worse. ;> If the masters ever turn up I'd love to be proved wrong.) > This is sad to hear, but not surprising in the least.
