This is sad to hear, but not surprising in the least. Even from the first vhs releases, sounds like they have all been made from the same awful print, and not from a master. The story I have always heard is that the originals have been lost, and no one has been able to track them down.Even finding a decent copy of the audio would be a big help, but that seems to be a dead issue as well. There are certain people in that band who have not managed their money wisely, and if they and their management had paid more attention to these things they could have a steady stream of legitimately good archival stuff to live off of from now until whenever. Instead, we are left with releases like this.
One final lesson to be learned. Just because it's a blu-ray disc, there's no guarantee that it's going to either look or sound good.
You never know though, a good version may turn up yet. -CP

Thanks for your review, I was about to get it. I think I'll keep my money for something else.

Ok, I was suckered into the promise of a "newly created 5.1 DTS-HD MA remix" on this re-release of Yessongs on Blu-Ray. What a crock. This is perhaps the worst recording I now own. It's basically a mono track in 5 channels, and sound quality is horrible. Hollow and highly distorted, it has no low-end, or much of a high-end.
I had heard the original DVD was bad, but I had no idea it could be this miserable. Evidently, whatever original recording this came from must be awful, and no amount of remixing or remastering will improve it. If you're tempted to check this out, save your money. Unfortunately, another attempt by Yes to fleece their fans with a subpar release.
