Paul Tracy's month of May currently includes one event--the GRAND-AM Rolex Series race at New Jersey--but with just 32 confirmed car/driver combos for the 96th Indianapolis 500, the Canadian told SPEED.com he's game to complete the 33-car grid if the right opportunity comes along.
"Yeah, I'd give it a try if it there was something available and it was a proper ride, but the phone hasn't rung," he told SPEED.com on Thursday.
"The only opportunity I had with anything was with Foyt, but that deal went to [Wade] Cunningham because he brought more money to the table. People know I'm not afraid to hang it out at Indy and keep the car off the walls, so if they need that [33rd] slot filled, I'm available."
Until Tracy gets a call to possibly try and qualify for his eighth Indy 500, he'll focus on his expanding career in sports cars.
"I've got three more GRAND-AM races this year with Kevin Doran's Daytona Prototype team, so I've been training hard preparing for it," he said. "I'm ready to go. I've been ready for it. Doran's only running a partial season with Mars, Combos and a few other sponsors to help do most of the big endurance races like the Rolex 24, Indy and Watkins Glen.
"New Jersey is next; that's the home race for my co-driver, Jim Lowe, so right now, that's the main thing we're focused on. It's the main thing I have going on right now, and it's building momentum, which is good. It's a good team—we're going to go test next week—so it should be good when we get to Jersey. If I'm needed for other things, I'll also be ready."
