The Montreal Canadiens on Friday announced Rick Dudley has been hired as assistant general manager.
"Rick Dudley is a very knowledgeable and proficient hockey executive and we are pleased to welcome him in our organization in the position of assistant general manager," Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin said. "Rick has been actively involved at the management level in the NHL for many years and is one of the League's most respected executives. An outstanding talent evaluator, he has extensive experience as a scout. The success he enjoyed at all levels throughout his career speaks volume of his expertise."
Dudley had been director of player personnel with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the latest stop in a managerial career that has included stints as GM with the Ottawa Senators, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers and Atlanta Thrashers.
Dudley and Bergevin worked together previously in the Chicago Blackhawks organization.
The Canadiens also announced Larry Carriere had agreed to a contract extension to remain as an assistant general manager. He had spent part of last season as an assistant coach on Randy Cunneyworth's staff before returning to his front-office post before the end of the regular season.
"We are thrilled to have both Rick and Larry Carriere as assistant general managers for several seasons to come," said Bergevin.
