The Halifax Mooseheads aren't going down as easily as the Quebec Remparts may have thought.
Facing elimination, Nathan MacKinnon scored the winning goal at 8:02 of the third period as the Mooseheads defeated the visiting Remparts 3-2 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff action.
Halifax has now won back-to-back contests against Quebec, both by one goal, after dropping the first three games of the series.
For MacKinnon, it was just his first goal in three outings but it does give him a total of 10 goals in nine post-season contests, which leads his club.
Cameron Critchlow and Trey Lewis also scored for the Mooseheads while Jonathan Drouin chipped in with two assists.
MacKinnon also picked up an assist to earn the game's first star.
Martin Lefebvre and Gabriel Desjardins each scored for the Remparts, who have mustered only three goals in their two losses after scoring 13 goals in their three victories.
Zachary Fucale stopped 24 shots for the win while Louis Domingue turned away 34 shots in a losing effort.
Halifax failed to score on the power play, going 0 for 4, as Quebec scored once on five opportunities with the man advantage.
The Remparts now lead the quarter-final series 3-2 with Game 6 scheduled to take place on Monday in Quebec City at the Colisee Pepsi.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Shawinigan 7, Chicoutmi 3 and Blainville-Boisbriand 3, Rimouski 2.
