{allcanada} QMJHL: PLANTE'S OT GOAL GIVES OCEANIC WILD WIN OVER TIGRES

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. -- Jean-Francois Plante scored 54 seconds into overtime as the Rimouski Oceanic earned a wild 8-7 win over the Victoriaville Tigres in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League play Wednesday.

Plante's winner came after Rimouski's Dale Deon forced extra time at 17:07 in the third period.

Petr Straka and Deon each scored twice, while Jerome Gauthier-Leduc, Alex Belzile, and Alexandre Tanguay also scored for the Oceanic (31-21-0). Jean-Philippe Mathieu chipped in with four assists.

The loss ruined a stellar effort by Stefan Fournier, who had four goals and two assists for Victoriaville.

Philippe Maillet, Philippe Halley and Matthew Hobbs added singles for the Tigres (33-16-3), while Yanni Gourde had four assists.

Rimouski goaltender Jacob Gervais-Chouinard allowed four goals on 13 shots before being replaced by Carl Hozjan, who gave up three goals on 19 shots.

At the other end of the ice, David Honzik was on the hook for all eight goals against Victoriaville.

Rimouski opened a four-goal lead before Halley scored with three seconds left in the first to end the period 4-1.

The Tigres answered back with four goals of their own in the second period, including three by Fournier. But a goal by Straka helped Rimouski keep a 6-5 lead going into the final period.

Hobbs tied the game just 20 seconds into the third, and Fournier's fourth goal of the night at 12:22 on the power play gave Victoriaville its first lead of the night.

But Deon scored his second goal of the game less than five minutes later, setting up Plante's overtime goal.
