Wikipedia's article on DVD-Audio states that
"Audio is stored on the disc in Linear PCM format, which is either
uncompressed or losslessly compressed with Meridian Lossless Packing."
This statement implies that neither DTS nor DD are allowed in DVD-
Audio AOB containers - only uncompressed PCM or MLP. Likewise, I have
never seen a DVD-Audio disk with a DD or DTS track in DVD-Audio part,
although this formats are often added to DVD-video part (VOB files in
the VIDEO folder) for compatibility.
You stated that "Not all DVD-A discs were authored using MLP files.
Some are your typical DD/DTS in AOB containers." I have strong doubts
that this is correct, but perhaps there is something to learn here.
Could you please give some examples?
