The Calgary Stampeders have signed non-import linebacker Marc Calixte to a contract extension.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
"We don't ever underestimate the importance and value of strength on special teams," said head coach and general manager John Hufnagel. "Marc is as effective a special-teams player as you can find in the CFL and it's great that he will be back for a 10th season."
A product of Laval, Que., Calixte is entering his 10th CFL season and is the longest-serving Stampeders player. In 2011, he dressed for seven games but missed the final 10 regular season games due to injury. Calixte returned to the lineup for the playoffs as the Stamps faced the Eskimos in the West Division semifinal.
"I'm proud to have been a member of the Stampeders for my entire CFL career," said Calixte. "I'm looking forward to my 10th season in Calgary and another opportunity to return to the Grey Cup game."
Calixte has played in 138 regular-season games to go along with nine playoff contests and was a member of the Stampeders' Grey Cup championship team in 2008.
