{allcanada} QMJHL: ASSELIN HAS GOAL AND ASSIST, SAGUENEENS BEAT FOREURS

Guillaume Asselin is proving that his consistency to score goals is no fluke.

Asselin scored once and set up another as the Chicoutimi Sagueneens defeated the host Val-d'Or Foreurs 4-2 on Sunday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

In his last 12 outings, the 19-year-old right-winger has 12 goals and 21 points.

Andrew O'Brien also had a goal and an assist for the Sagueneens (26-16-9), who won for the fourth time in five games, while Mathieu Gagnon and Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored a goal apiece.

Guillaume Gelinas scored a goal and added an assist for the Foreurs (21-26-4), who have now lost four in a row, as Anthony Mantha chipped in a single goal.

Christopher Gibson made 19 saves for the win while Francois Tremblay stopped 39 shots in defeat.

Chicoutimi went 2 for 3 on the power play as Val-d'Or failed to score on three opportunities of their own with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Saint John 6, Blainville-Boisbriand 3; Drummondville 6, Gatineau 1; Rimouski 4, Halifax 3 (OT) and Victoriaville 6 Quebec 5.

At Val-d'Or, Que., Gagnon opened the scoring 5:33 into the second with a power-play goal.

Gelinas tied the game at 13:33, but Asselin responded at 17:57 to give the Sagueneens a 2-1 lead heading into the final period.

O'Brien extended Chicoutimi's advantage with a power-play goal 3:04 into the third period.

Mantha scored for the Foreurs at 12:59 to make it a one-goal game, however Pageau added an insurance goal 43 seconds later to secure a victory for the Sagueneens.

At Drummondville, Que., Alex Emond scored twice and Domenic Graham made 19 saves as the Voltiguers (21-25-6) handed Gatineau (19-23-8) their fourth straight loss.

At Rimouski, Que., Alexandre Mallet scored the winner 26 seconds into overtime as the Oceanic (30-21-0) improved to 9-0-0 in games that go to extra time by defeating Halifax (27-16-5).

Tigres 6 Remparts 5

At Victoriaville, Que., Angelo Miceli had three goals and Brandon Hynes added two goals and an assist as the Tigres (33-16-2) beat Quebec (32-12-6).
