Michael McNamee and Alexandre Comtois each had two goals and an assist as the Quebec Remparts hammered the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 7-1 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Thursday.
Frederick Roy and Adam Erne added a goal and an assist each for Quebec (22-5-3), while Ryan Culkin also scored.
Logan Shaw had the only goal for Cape Breton (11-18-1), breaking Francois Brassard's shutout bid with under two minutes remaining in regulation.
With the win, Quebec opened up a six-point lead over Shawinigan in the East Division standings. Quebec is two points behind Saint John for first place in the overall standings.
Cape Breton remained fifth in the six-team Maritime Division.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL, Moncton edged Gatineau 4-3 and Acadie-Bathurst blanked P.E.I. 4-0.
At Sydney, N.S., Brassard finished with 22 saves for Quebec.
Phillipe Trudeau started for Quebec but was replaced by Jacob Fancy at 13:40 of the first period after surrendering two goals on seven shots.
Fancy fared no better, giving up four goals on 19 shots prompting the Screaming Eagles to put Trudeau back in goal to start the third period.
Trudeau stopped six of Quebec's seven shots the rest of the way.
Wildcats 4, Olympiques 3
At Moncton, N.B., Alex Saulnier's 17th goal in the season late in the third period led the Wildcats (17-12-2) over Gatineau (14-12-4).

At Charlottetown, Jacob Brennan made 26 saves as Acadie-Bathurst (12-15-4) shut out the last-place Rocket (7-21-3).
