Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mike Brown underwent surgery to repair a disk in his back on Friday.
The second-year Leaf is expected to miss six weeks recovering from the surgery.
In 18 games with Toronto this season, Brown has recorded one goal and two assists and has 31 penalty minutes.
Brown, a former fifth-round draft pick, was traded to Toronto from Anaheim in 2010.
