TORONTO -- Canadian bantamweight Mitch Gagnon has stepped in for the injured Eddy Wineland to face Johnny Bedford on a televised UFC card Jan. 28 in Chicago.
The 27-year-old from Sudbury, Ont., has won six straight in upping his record to 8-1. Gagnon is coming off an October submission win over David Harris at Ringside MMA 12.
At five foot 10, Bedford will have four inches on Gagnon. Bedford (18-10-1) was one of the 135-pounders featured on Season 14 of "The Ultimate Fighter."
The show at the United Centre is the second for the UFC under its seven-year contract with Fox.
Meanwhile, heavyweight Brendan Schaub tweeted Wednesday he will face (Big) Ben Rothwell at UFC 145 in Montreal on March 24
In UFC 143 news, unbeaten middleweight Clifford Starks (8-0) will face veteran Ed (Short Fuse) Herman on Feb. 4 in Las Vegas.
Starks won his UFC debut in October, defeating Dustin Jacoby by decision.
The main event features Nick Diaz against Carlos Condit for the interim welterweight title.
