A tough season for the P.E.I. Rocket got a little bit better Thursday.
Matt Bursey scored twice as part of a five-goal third period as the last-place Rocket pulled away late and cruised to a 7-2 victory over the Moncton Wildcats in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Josh Currie added a goal and two assists for P.E.I. (7-19-3), while Marc-Andre Levesque, with a goal and an assist, Michael Abbott, Pier-Antoine Dion and Louick Marcotte also scored.
Antoine Bibeau made 33 saves to pick up the win.
Erik Robichaud and Olivier Daoust scored in the first period for Moncton (15-12-1), which got 31 stops out of Brandon Thibeau.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Halifax 4, Cape Breton 1; Acadie-Bathurst 8, Rouyn-Noranda 5; and Rimouski 4, Gatineau 3 (SO).
At Charlottetown, the Rocket and Wildcats were tied 2-2 in the third when Dion gave P.E.I. the lead at 9:14.
Bursey scored his first of the night at 15:20 and before Marcotte added an empty-net goal at 17:45.
Levesque scored into another empty net at 18:24 and Bursey rounded out the scoring with nine seconds left in regulation.
Mooseheads 4, Screaming Eagles 1
At Halifax, Matthew Boudreau and Nathan MacKinnon each had a goal and an assist as the Mooseheads (16-7-2) defeated Cape Breton (11-15-1).

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Christophe Losier scored twice and Matthew Bissonnette added a goal and three assists as Acadie-Bathurst (11-14-3) bested the Huskies (8-19-2).

Oceanic 4, Olympiques 3 (SO)
At Gatineau, Que., Jerome Gauthier-Leduc scored in regulation and added the only goal of the shootout as Rimouski (16-13-0) got past the Olympiques (13-10-3).
