{allcanada} QMJHL: LACERTE STOPS 37 AS OLYMPIQUES EDGE TITAN

Francois Lacerte proved the importance of solid goaltending on Sunday, as he stopped 37 shots to lead the Gatineau Olympiques over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 3-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

In being named the game's first star, Lacerte kept Zach O'Brien, Sebastien Trudeau and Matthew Bissonnette, three of the league's top four scoring leaders, from producing any points.

Christian Oullet and Tomas Hyka led the Olympiques (13-10-4) offensively with a goal and an assist each while Mathieu Gagnon added a single goal.

Christophe Lalancette had a goal and an assist for the Titan (11-14-4) while Etienne Salvail scored the other.

Robert Steeves made 16 saves in the loss.

Gatineau went 0-for-7 on the power play as Acadie-Bathurst failed to score on either of their two opportunities with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Quebec 3, Chicoutimi 1; Moncton 4, Halifax 3 (SO) and Rouyn-Noranda 4, Baie-Comeau 3 (OT).

At Gatineau, Que., Lalancette opened the scoring 4:45 into the game to make it 1-0 for the Titan.

Gagnon tied the game at 9:45 and Hyka scored less than four minutes later giving the Olympiques a 2-1 lead.

Before the period was finished, Oullet scored to make it 3-1 Gatineau.

Acadie-Bathurst outshot the Olympiques 12-3 in the second period however neither team could score.

The Titan kept the pressure on throughout the third period, outshooting the Olympiques 18-4. Salvail scored at 7:45 to cut the lead in half but Lacerte turned aside everything else to hold on to a 3-2 Gatineau win.

At Saguenay, Que., Louis Domingue stopped 34 of 35 shots and Anthony Duclair scored the winner on a power play as Quebec (21-5-3) defeated Chicoutimi (12-9-7).

Wildcats 4 Mooseheads 3 (SO)

At Moncton, N.B., James Melindy scored the winner in a shootout while Patrick Delisle-Houde scored a goal and an assist in regulation to lead the Wildcats (16-12-1) over Halifax (17-7-3).

Huskies 4 Drakkar 3 (OT)

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Jean-Sebastien Dea scored in overtime and Jeffrey Noonan made 35 saves as the Huskies (8-20-2) beat Baie-Comeau (14-13-1).
