The Winnipeg Jets' trip didn't end like they wanted, but the club has plenty of opportunities to get back on track at home.

The Ottawa Senators, meanwhile, are hoping to build some momentum as they open another stretch on the road.

The Jets will try to extend their season-high home winning streak to four on Tuesday night when they host the Senators.

Trying to extend its season-high point streak to six, Winnipeg (9-10-4) lost 4-2 at Boston on Saturday to cap off a 1-1-1 trip. It was a missed opportunity for the Jets, who led 2-0 midway through the opening period on goals by Evander Kane (notes) and Dustin Byfuglien (notes).

"In the second (period) we stopped playing at all and gave them the chance to come back and tie the game and overall it wasn't that bad a game - on the road, against Boston, we did a pretty good job," Ondrej Pavelec (notes) said after making 32 saves. "It's all the little details and we got to be better."

The power play needs improvement after going 0 for 7 on the trip, yet the Jets have converted 6 for 15 chances with the man advantage and outscored opponents 15-7 during their home winning streak.

Kane, who has five goals and two assist in the last six games, is tied with Byfuglien and center Kyle Wellwood (notes) for a team-best five points during that run at the MTS Centre.

While Winnipeg opens a stretch of five straight and 13 of 15 at home, the Senators (11-10-4) are on the road again following Sunday's 4-3 victory over Carolina. Back from a 3-2-1 trip, Ottawa avoided a third straight loss as Craig Anderson (notes) turned aside 34 shots and the team killed seven of eight penalties.

"Any time you follow a loss like that (6-3 at Pittsburgh on Friday) with a win at home, it's a big boost for us getting on the plane tonight," coach Paul MacLean said.

Senators center Jason Spezza (notes) has to feel good to begin this three-game trip after snapping an 11-game goal scoring drought - his longest since 2005-06 - with two on Sunday, including the 200th of his career.

"It's been a while since I scored so they usually come in bunches for me," he said. "It was nice to get my 200th out of the way. It's obviously a big accomplishment and something to be proud of, so hopefully there's more to come."

The Senators, outscored 27-15 in the opening 20 minutes this season, could use more first-period production from Spezza, who found the back of the net 55 seconds into Sunday's game.

Ottawa trailed Winnipeg following Byfuglien's first-period goal Oct. 20, but it rallied for a 4-1 home win. Spezza had a goal and two assists and Milan Michalek (notes) beat Pavelec twice and set up a score to help the Senators improve to 3-0-2 in this matchup following three straight losses.

The Jets/Atlanta Thrashers franchise last won four in a row at home during a 6-0-0 stretch from Nov. 19-Dec. 6, 2010.
