The Calgary Flames have claimed forward Blake Comeau off waivers from the New York Islanders.
Comeau, in his fifth full year in the NHL, has 0 points and a minus-11 rating through 16 games with the Islanders this season.
In 77 games last year, Comeau recorded 24 goals and 46 points in Long Island, both career highs.
The former second-round draft pick played for Flames head coach Brent Sutter as a member of Team Canada in the 2006 World Juniors in Vancouver.
To make room on the roster, the Flames assigned forward Paul Byron to Abbotsford of the AHL.
