LONDON -- Canadians Stephanie Dubois and Aleksandra Wozniak won their opening singles matches in Wimbleon qualifying action Tuesday.
The 23rd-seed Dubois, who hails from Laval, Que., easily handled Britain's Anna Fitzpatrick 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the next round, while Aleksandra Wozniak of Blainville, Que., won 6-4, 6-3 over Poland's Urszula Radwanska, the 21st seed.
Heidi El Tabakh, from Oakville, Ont., lost 6-3 7-5 to Australia's Casey Dellacqua.
On the men's side, Frank Dancevic is through to the third round of qualifying after a victory over Thailand's Danai Udomchoke. The Niagara Falls, Ont., native won his match 6-1, 6-4.
Vasek Pospisil of Vernon, B.C., wasn't as lucky. He dropped a 6-4, 7-5 decision in the second round to No. 29-seed Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France.
