TORONTO - She might not have Adonis DNA in her blood, but when it comes to "winning," Barrie radio news anchor Lyndsey Vanstone is like a tiger on the prowl.
Vanstone, 25, is on a shortlist of 50 people -- whittled down from over 74,000 -- who could be actor Charlie Sheen's paid summer intern. She finds out in several days if she makes the next cut.
Vanstone is not sure when a final decision will be made.
"I came across the ad on twitter and the first thing you had to do was send a tweet, it had something along the lines of: 'I'm smart, I'm cute and Tigerblood gives me power to be a social media guru,'" said the blonde-haired announcer who added landing the Sheen job will help her career.
Her resume includes six years of broadcasting experience, a passion for social media and keen instinct on how to market oneself.
A Facebook page that supports her cause has reached 295 fans.
The next elimination will be based on videos submitted by the applicants. Vanstone's features her in the B101 FM studios discussing how social media plays a big role in natural disaster crisis and fundraising.
"It's me reading headlines of disasters around the world," she said. "I'm more excited than anything else. I only have things to gain at this point, so I'm really hoping I get it. After this shortlist, that'll be it."
Vanstone said she doesn't think Sheen is crazy.
"I think we're all fascinated by Charlie Sheen right now," she said.
Dexter Howe, a 22-year-old Toronto flash developer, is also anxiously awaiting news whether he will make it to the next round.
Getting a chance to go to California and meeting one of his celebrity heroes would make his life "awesome," said Howe, who is originally from Sudbury.
"Living in Northern Ontario, you don't get exposed to a lot of things," he said. "Moving to Toronto was a first step for me and after that, helping Charlie Sheen work on his social media lists, I can't think of anything better."
The posting on internships.com went live on March 7.
The job description for the eight-week gig says: "Do you have TigerBlood? Are you all about winning? Can you plan better than anyone else? If so, we want you on TeamSheen as our social media TigerBloodIntern!"
Apparently, Sheen is looking for a "hard-working, self-motivated, creative, resourceful individual" to work closely with him.
The intern will work to increase the number of Sheen's followers on twitter, which has exploded to 3.2 million people to date.
The Two-and-a-Half Men actor has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for being the quickest to reach 1-million followers on twitter in a 24-hour period.
