GANGNEUNG, South Korea -- Canadian ice-dance champions Nicole Orford and Thomas Williams finished eighth Friday at the world junior figure skating competition.
Russians Ksenia Monko and Kirill Khaliavin took the gold medal ahead of compatriots Ekaterina Pushkash and Jonathan Guerreiro. Americans Charlotte Lichtman and Dean Copely were third.
Orford, of Burnaby, B.C., and Williams of Okotoks, Alta., finished with a season-best 122.22 points.
"It was our best skate all year we couldn't be happier," said Orford.
Toronto's Kelly Oliveira and Jordan Hockley of Whitby, Ont., also in their world juniors debut, were 15th.
Alexandra Najarro of Richmond Hill, Ont., was 25th in the women's event.
