The Seattle Thunderbirds just cannot win in the Tri-City Americans' hometown of Kennewick, Wash.
Brendan Shinnimin had a goal and three assists and rookie Connor Rankin scored a pair of goals to lead the Americans to a 5-2 victory over the Thunderbirds in Western Hockey League play Friday night.
Carter Ashton add a goal and two assists for Tri-City (37-18-4) and Tyler Schmidt a goal for the Americans, who ended a three-game skid. Chris Driedger finished with 26 saves.
Ryan Button and Connor Sandivo scored for Seattle (22-30-9), which has lost 17 consecutive games in Kennewick, Wash.
Calvin Pickard had 29 saves in 50 minutes of work. His replacement, Michael Salmon, stopped all seven shots he faced.
Pickard is winless in 12 starts in Kennewick.
The Americans were 1-for-5 on the power play, while the Thunderbirds scored once on three man advantages.

At Everett, Wash., Kent Simpson stopped all 45 shots he faced to lead the Silvertips to victory over Portland.
Scott MacDonald and Tyler Maxwell both scored on short-handed breakaways as Everett (27-25-9) won its fourth straight.
Keith Hamilton made 24 saves in goal for the Winterhawks (41-17-3), who had a four-game winning streak snapped. It was just the second time this season Portland has been held scoreless.

At Cranbrook, B.C., Nathan Lieuwen made 30 saves as Kootenay triumphed over Prince Albert.
Matt Fraser, Steele Boomer, Erik Benoit and Brayden McNabb, into an empty net, each scored for the Ice (40-18-4).
Justin Maylan had the lone goal for the Raiders (25-32-5).

At Lethbridge, Alta., Brody Sutter and Derek Ryckman both scored on the power play and added an assist as the Hurricanes disposed of Edmonton.
Austin Fyten and Landon Oslanski also had a goal and an assist each for Lethbridge (21-28-13), while Max Ross added a single. Cam Braes scored into an empty net and had two assists.
Cameron Abney, Dylan Wruck and captain Mark Pysyk replied for the Oil Kings (27-28-7).

At Medicine Hat, Alta., Colin Smith was the lone scorer in the shootout and had a hat trick in regulation time as Kamloops edged the Tigers.
Dylan Willick had back-to-back power-play goals in the final minute of the third period to force overtime for the Blazers (28-31-4).
Kellan Tochkin had a pair of goals and an assist for Medicine Hat (38-17-7), while Emerson Etem scored and added two assists. Hunter Shinkaruk and Cole Grbavac added singles.

At Red Deer, Alta., Geordie Wudrick notched his 34th goal of the season and Adam Brown posted his second shutout as Kelowna nipped the Rebels.
Brown stopped 27 shots for the Rockets (35-25-1).

At Saskatoon, winger Brenden Walker scored twice and added an assist as Brandon topped the Blades in a high-flying victory.
Matt MacKay had a goal and set up two others for the Wheat Kings(26-29-8), while Michael Ferland, Jens Meilleur, David Toews and Jordan Fransoo chipped in as well.
Jake Trask led Saskatoon (47-13-2) with a pair of goals, while Brayden Schenn, Matej Stransky and Ryan Olsen added singles. Josh Nicholls scored and added an assist.

At Spokane, Wash., Mac Engel made just 16 saves to earn the shutout as the Chiefs crushed Prince George .
Anthony Bardaro led Spokane (39-17-6) with a hat trick. Tyler Johnson had a goal and three assists, while Brenden Kichton scored and had two assists. Jared Cowen, Steven Kuhn and Matt Marantz rounded out the attack.
Ty Rimmer started in net for the Cougars (28-31-3) and made 20 saves on 26 shots in 32:07 of work. He was replaced by James Priestner, who stopped 19 of 21 shots.

At Swift Current, Sask., Regina handed the Broncos their seventh-straight loss.
Shayne Neigum netted the game winner for the Pats (22-32-8) when he scored with 2:35 left in regulation to break a 3-3 tie.
Jordan Weal, with his team leading 30th, Art Bidlevski, Trent Oullette all scored as Regina erased three one-goal deficits in the opening two periods.
Import forward Stepan Novotny led Swift Current (24-39-1) with two goals and an assist, while Adam Lowry also scored for the Broncos, who have now lost 15 of their past 16 games.

At Vancouver, Ryan Howse had two goals and an assist to lead Chilliwack in a come-from-behind victory over the host Giants.
Mitch Topping, Kevin Sunher, Brandon Magee, and Jamie Crooks also had goals for the Bruins (25-29-5). Robin Soudek added a pair of assists.
James Henry had a goal and an assist in his first game back from a knee injury, while Brendan Gallagher had a goal and two assists for Vancouver (31-24-5). Jordan Martinook and Spencer Bennett also replied for the Giants.
