The Victoriaville Tigres did what seemed to be impossible Saturday night.
Pierre-Luc Pelletier's goal 29 seconds into the middle period was the winner as Victoriaville ended the Saint John Sea Dogs' lengthy win streak with a 2-1 victory in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
The loss, Saint John's first in regulation time in 2011, ended a 22-game points streak. In that span, the Sea Dogs won 21 games and lost to the Drummondville Voltigeurs 3-2 in overtime Jan. 15th.
For their part, the Tigres have won three straight and six of their last 10.
Saint John is currently first overall in the QMJHL and has clinched the Maritimes Division title. Victoriaville has a guaranteed playoff berth and is third in the East Division.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Chicoutimi 4 Baie-Comeau 1; Gatineau 2 Shawinigan 1; Cape Breton 3 Halifax 0; Quebec 5 Rimouski 2 and Acadie-Bathurst 8 Val-d'Or 3.
At Victoriaville, Que., Philippe Maillet opened scoring for the Tigres (33-24-4).
Mike Thomas's second-period goal wasn't enough to keep the streak alive for the Sea Dogs (50-6-3).

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Guillaume Asselin's 32nd of the season stood as the winner for Chicoutimi, which skated past the Drakkar.
Emrik Guillemette scored on the power play for the Sagueneens (26-23-11), while Charles Hudon and Vincent Blanchette had goals as well.
Alexandre Durette was the lone scorer for Baie-Comeau (10-41-9).

At Shawinigan, Que., Philip-Michael Devos supplied all the offence as Gatineau edged the Cataractes.
Devos' power-play goal 13:53 into the third period was the winner for the Olympiques (35-17-8).
Dave Labrecque replied for Shawinigan (37-19-3).

Screaming Eagles 3 Mooseheads 0
At Sydney, N.S., Andrew Hayes stopped 26 shots as Cape Breton shut out Halifax.
Morgan Ellis and Loic Leduc both had short-handed empty-net goals in the final minute of play as the Screaming Eagles (17-39-5) held on to the slim lead Spencer Metcalfe had given Cape Breton at the 1:03 mark of the first period.
Frederic Piche made 27 saves for the Mooseheads (18-39-3).

At Quebec City, Vincent Barnard had two goals as the Remparts sank Rimouski.
Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, Frederick Roy and Mikael Tam all had a goal and an assist for Quebec (41-15-4).
Patrick Delisle-Houde and Alex Belzile responded for the Oceanic (28-30-3) on the power play.

At Val-d'Or, Que., Zach O'Brien had a hat trick as Acadie-Bathurst crushed the Foreurs.
Vincent Arseneau struck twice and added an assist for the Titan (40-20-2), while Jonathan Lessard, David Gilbert and Sebastien Trudeau chipped in as well.
Nicolas Larocque-Marcoux had two goals for Val-d'Or (22-31-7) while Jonathan Hazen scored shorthanded.
