Regina, Saskatchewan (Sports Network) - Saskatchewan Roughriders veteran offensive linemen Jeremy O'Day announced his retirement on Tuesday and will join the team's football operations staff.
The 36-year-old played 12 of his 14 seasons with Saskatchewan and his 202 regular-season games played rank him 12th on the franchise's all-time games list.
"I would like to thank the entire Roughrider organization, the fans and my teammates for the past 12 years," O'Day said. "It has truly been an honor to be involved with such a great organization. I'll never forget the amazing feeling of running onto the field at Mosaic Stadium."
"While my playing days are over, I am very honored and privileged to accept the position of Football Operations Coordinator. It has always been a dream of mine to continue on with the Roughriders after my playing career. I look forward to continuing to help this organization be the best team possible."
O'Day played collegiately at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and signed with Toronto in 1997. He appeared in 36 games over the next two seasons and helped the Argonauts win the 1997 Grey Cup title.
The offensive lineman joined the Roughriders in 1999 as a free agent and saw action in 16 playoff contests, including three Grey Cups and was a member of the 2007 squad that claimed the championship.
