VANCOUVER -- Canadian immigration proceedings against troubled American actor Randy Quaid were dropped, but that doesn't necessarily mean he will remain in Canada.
Quaid, 60, and his wife Evi,47, are still wanted in Santa Barbara, Calif., where they have skipped several court dates on felony charges they vandalized a home they formerly owned.
Santa Barbara senior deputy district attorney Lee Carter told QMI Agency he may seek the Quaids' extradition.
"The charges in Santa Barbara are still pending," Carter said. "Defendants with felony offences are subject to international extradition pursuant to treaty."
The Quaids were arrested Oct. 21 in Vancouver. Evi Quaid was released by Canada Border Services Agency on Oct. 27 when the Immigration and Refugee Board agreed she could qualify for citizenship because her father was Canadian. She received her citizenship Feb. 10 and plans to sponsor Randy.
They both believe their lives are endangered by so-called "Hollywood star whackers," but their ex-private investigator, Becky Altringer, said no such murder conspiracy exists.
