{allcanada} QMJHL: JURCO NETS HAT TRICK AS SEA DOGS DOWN WILDCATS

The Saint John Sea Dogs' are dominating the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in all major stat categories and the league itself.

Highly-touted prospect Tomas Jurco had a hat trick as Saint John rocked the Moncton Wildcats 11-2 on Friday night.

The Sea Dogs have scored 248 goals so far this season, 36 more the Lewiston Maineiacs, their nearest competition in the category.

Saint John's defence is also the best in the QMJHL, allowing only 128 goals, 11 less than the second-place Montreal Juniors.

Having the best offence and defence in the league has put the Sea Dogs firmly at the top of the league's standings and the Canadian Hockey League's weekly power rankings.

Saint John has earned points in 15-straight games with 14 wins and a 3-2 overtime loss to the Drummondville Voltigeurs on Jan. 15.

The Sea Dogs have not lost in regulation time in all of 2011.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Drummondville 5 P.E.I. 1; Montreal 1 Quebec 0; Baie-Comeau 3 Rouyn-Noranda 2; Shawinigan 4 Gatineau 3; Val-d'Or 1 Rimouski 0 and Victoriaville 3 Cape Breton 2 (SO).

At Moncton, N.B., Jonathan Huberdeau had a pair of goals as 16 different players recorded a point for Saint John (43-5-3). Gabriel Bourret and Stanislav Galiev both scored and added two assists, while Michael Kirkpatrick, Aidan Kelly, Jason Cameron and Stephen MacAulay added singles.

Alex Saulnier and Simon Jodoin replied for the Wildcats (26-19-6).

Voltigeurs 5 Rocket 1

At Charlottetown, Jean-Philippe Mathieu led all scorers with two goals and two assists as Drummondville snuffed out P.E.I.

Both of Marc-Olivier Vachon's goals came on the power play for the Voltigeurs (33-13-7), while Pier-Antoine Dion also scored.

Alex Noel was the lone scorer for the Rocket (23-22-7).

Juniors 1 Remparts 0

At Quebec City, Jean-Francois Berube withstood 26 shots to earn the shutout as Montreal blanked the Remparts.

Trevor Parkes had the only goal for the Juniors (36-9-7).

Louis Domingue made 15 saves on 16 shots for Quebec (37-12-3) in 41 minutes of work. Jimmy Appleby stopped the remaining five shots.

Drakkar 3 Huskies 2

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Antoine Quevillon's goal 1:35 into the third period stood as the winner as the Drakkar beat Rouyn-Noranda.

Lukas Cingel and Jeremi Janneteau also scored for Baie-Comeau (8-37-9).

Felix Girard had a short-handed goal for the Huskies (9-38-5) and Frederic Gamelin also found the back of the net.

Cataractes 4 Olympiques 3 (SO)

At Shawinigan, Que., Peter Sakaris was the only scorer in the shootout as the Cataractes edged Gatineau.

Maximilien Le Sieur had a short-handed goal for Shawinigan (33-15-3), while Michael Bournival and Benjamin Casavant scored with the man advantage.

Philip-Michael Devos, Tommy Tremblay and Nicolas Deslauriers gave the Olympiques (30-14-8) a 3-1 lead by the end of the second period.

Foreurs 1 Oceanic 0

At Val-d'Or, Que., Jacob Gervais-Chouinard stopped 29 shots to earn the clean sheet as the Foreurs topped Rimouski.

Jonathan Hazen's goal was all the offence Val-d'Or (19-26-5) would need.

Morgan Clark stopped 26 shots for the Oceanic (24-27-2).

Tigres 3 Screaming Eagles 2 (SO)

At Victoriaville, Que., Yannick Dube scored in the shootout as the Tigres downed Cape Breton.

Guillaume Goulet and Frederic Tanguay had goals in regulation time for Victoriaville (28-21-4).

William Carrier and Vincent Boudreau-Plouffe supplied the offence for the Screaming Eagles (15-34-4).
