SARNIA, Ont. -- The Sarnia Sting fired head coach and general manager Dave MacQueen on Sunday.
His dismissal came one day after the Sting dropped a 7-3 decision to Plymouth to fall to 18-26-6 on the Ontario Hockey League season.
Assistant Trevor Letowski was named interim head coach and GM duties will be absorbed internally by team management.
"We thank Dave MacQueen for his tenure with the Sarnia Sting hockey club," the team said in a statement. "However we feel that over the past month while other teams have been taking steps forward we have been moving in the opposite direction. We have assembled a young, talented, deep group of players and we feel it is time to move in a new direction."
All other Sting coaches and scouts will remain in their current positions.
