{allcanada} Justin Bieber: Free for New Year's Eve?

Go Daddy Domain Auctions

Will Justin Bieber be around when the ball drops?

We're not talking about a performance in Times Square, but rather a part in the movie New Year's Eve, director Garry Marshall's follow-up to Valentine's Day.

Producers reportedly are very hot for the Biebster. So is it happening?

Doesn't sound like it.

"They tried, but it doesn't look like they're going to be able to make it work because of scheduling," a source tells us.

Previously announced cast includes Lea Michele, Zac Efron, Sarah Jessica Parker, Hilary Swank, Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert De Niro, Josh Duhamel, Jon Bon Jovi, Ice Cube and even our E! pal Ryan Seacrest. Just yesterday, it was announced that Katherine Heigl was replacing Halle Berry in the flick because of the Oscar winner's heated custody battle with baby-daddy Gabriel Aubry.

And I just learned that Julie Andrews has signed on for a role. She and Marshall worked together on the Princess Diaries movies with Anne Hathaway.

Bieber makes his big-screen movie debut next month in Never Say Never,  a 3-D documentary concert film directed by Jon Chu.
