{allcanada} CARBONNEAU TO BE NAMED HEAD COACH OF QMJHL'S SAGUENEENS

Match.com

Match.comThe Chicoutimi Sagueneens will introduce Guy Carbonneau as their new head coach on Monday.

Carbonneau, the club's co-owner, replaces head coach and general manager Richard Martel who was fired last week after eight years behind the bench.

Carbonneau, who worked this season as an analyst for RDS, was fired from his post as head coach of the Montreal Canadiens in 2009 - one year after being nominated for the Jack Adams Award.

Carbonneau also served as an assistant coach to Michel Therrien with the Canadiens from 2000 to 2002 before moving back to the Dallas Stars where he worked as an assistant general manager. He returned to Montreal in 2006 to become the Canadiens' associate coach after Claude Julien was fired and GM Bob Gainey assumed the role of interim head coach.

Chicoutimi is currently on a three-game winning streak under interim head coach Marc-Etienne Hubert. At 21-22-4-6 this season, they sit in fourth place in the East Division.
