TORONTO -- Toronto FC has officially unveiled the new management staff it hopes will finally bring the struggling team success.
Former Dutch national star Aron Winter is the new head coach and technical director while fellow Dutchman Bob de Klerk is assistant coach.
Englishman Paul Mariner was named the team's new director of player development at a news conference.
The team has been without a full-time head coach since Preki and Mo Johnston were fired in September, with the team on the verge of missing the Major League Soccer playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.
The 43-year-old Winter played for Ajax and Inter Milan, and scored six goals in 84 appearances for the Netherlands from 1987 to 2000.
He coached a junior Ajax team before taking the Toronto position, and is also a former assistant coach with the Dutch under-20 team.
