{allcanada} QMJHL: HODHOD LEADS CATARACTES TO UPSET OF REMPARTS

The Shawinigan Cataractes cooled off the Quebec Remparts on Friday night.

Samuel Hodhod had a pair of goals as Shawinigan upset Quebec 4-1 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The loss snapped the Remparts' 11-game point streak. Quebec had won 10 games and lost once in overtime during that span. The Cataractes have also been hot, winning seven of their last 10 games.

Hodhod's power-play goal at the 13:34 mark of the first period tied the game 1-1. After that it was all Shawinigan as the Cataractes scored again in the second and twice in the third.

Hodhod's second of the game came just 15 seconds after Yannick Veilleux scored with the man advantage for Shawingan.

Quebec has the second-best record in the QMJHL with 65 points and are ranked behind the Saint John Sea Dogs and the Ontario Hockey League's Mississauga St. Michael's Majors in the Canadian Hockey League's weekly power rankings.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Moncton 5 Halifax 1; P.E.I. 4 Rimouski 3; Acadie-Bathurst 6 Cape Breton 2; Lewiston 6 Rouyn-Noranda 2; Gatineau 5 Victoriaville 1 and Drummondville 3 Baie-Comeau 1.

At Shawinigan, Que., Peter Sakaris also scored for the Cataracters (23-13-3).

Martin Lefebvre had the only goal for the Remparts (31-8-3).

Wildcats 5 Mooseheads 1

At Halifax, Tyler Howe's first goal of the season was the eventual winner as Moncton skated past the Mooseheads.

Devon MacAusland had the first game of the night for the Wildcats (22-15-5), while Marek Hrivik and Alex Saulnier had markers of their own.

Matthew Boudreau was the lone scorer for Halifax (14-25-2).

Rocket 4 Oceanic 3

At Charlottetown, Jimmy Oligny opened scoring and added two assists as P.E.I. edged Rimouski.

Philippe Paradis had his 16th of the season for the Rocket (19-18-3), while Matthew Hobbs and Felipe Corbo both scored early in the third period.

Alex Belzile had a short-handed goal for the Oceanic (21-20-2). Etienne Boutet and Alex Emond also found the back of the net.

Titan 6 Screaming Eagles 2

At Bathurst, N.B., Marc-Olivier Mimar struck twice as the Titan downed Cape Breton.

Zach O'Brien scored for Acadie-Bathurst (25-14-1) and set up goals by Gabriel Levesque, Daniel Tanel and Sebastien Trudeau.

William Cochrane and Denis Kindl replied in the third period for the Screaming Eagles (12-27-3).

Maineiacs 6 Huskies 2

At Lewiston, Maine, Bryce Milson and Michael Chaput both had a pair of goals in the Maineiacs dominant win over Rouyn-Noranda.

Olivier Dame-Malka and Antoine Houde-Caron rounded out the attack for Lewiston (27-14-2).

Jessyko Bernard and Jason Houde provided the offence for the Huskies (7-32-3).

Olympiques 5 Tigres 1

At Victoriaville, Que., Tye McGinn had two goals as Gatineau toppled the Tigres.

Mitchell Porowski, Nicolas Deslauriers and Tommy Tremblay also scored for the Olympiques (27-11-4).

Philippe Maillet had his 21st goal of the year for Victoriaville (21-18-3).

Voltigeurs 3 Drakkar 1

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Ondrej Palat has his league-leading 26th of the season as Drummondville's three unanswered goals beat the Drakkar.

Pier-Antoine Dion and Jean-Philippe Mathieu also had goals for the Voltigeurs (26-11-5).

Frederick Gamelin was the lone scorer for Baie-Comeau (6-28-9).
