Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Edmonton Oilers rookie forward Jordan Eberle underwent an emergency appendectomy on Wednesday night.
The Journal revealed on Thursday that the rookie winger, who is laid up with a sprained left ankle, had the procedure but it will not keep him out of the lineup longer than the ankle issue will.
Edmonton's 22nd-overall pick in the 2008 draft posted nine goals and 23 points in 37 games before his initial setback sidelined him.
In other roster news, the Oilers have decided to scratch defenseman Kurtis Foster and insert defenceman Jason Strudwick against the Islanders.
