KIRCHBERG, Austria -- Skier Francois Bourque is returning to Canada for tests after suffering an injury during training Thursday.
The 26-year-old native of L'Ange-Gardien, Que., felt pain in his left knee during a giant slalom practice run in Austria.
"I just want to see what the diagnosis is," said Bourque, who suffered a re-tear of his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in December 2009 on the same knee. "I didn't crash ... I just felt the knee pop. I'm pretty disappointed."
Dr. Stephen French, medical co-director for Alpine Canada Alpin, said Bourque has a suspected ACL tear, but it's too early to confirm that diagnosis.
"We are looking at getting him to Canada for an assessment," he said. "His return to competition is uncertain at this time."
Canada's leading male skiers are competing in Adelboden, Switzerland, this weekend.
