{allcanada} QMJHL: JURCO'S THREE POINTS POWER SEA DOGS OVER OLYMPIQUES

The Saint John Sea Dogs are making their case as the best team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Tomas Jurco had a pair of goals and an assist as Saint John disposed of the Gatineau Olympiques 5-2 on Saturday night.

It's the latest victory in the Sea Dogs' 15-game point streak. Since Oct. 23, Saint John has won 14 games and earned a point in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens on Nov. 6.

That span has lifted the Sea Dogs to the top of the QMJHL standings and the second-best team in the Canadian Hockey League's weekly power rankings.

Jurco now has 17 goals and 32 points in 29 games in his second QMJHL season.

The Slovakian winger is also capable in his own end of the ice, earning a +26 plus/minus and just eight minutes of penalties.

Saint John has the league's best offence with 146 goals for, 18 more than its nearest competitor, the Quebec Remparts.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Baie-Comeau 3 Rimouski 2; Chicoutimi 8 Cape Breton 4; P.E.I. 6 Moncton 3; Quebec 6 Shawinigan 2 and Rouyn-Noranda 3 Halifax 2.

At Saint John, Stanislav Galiev had a goal and set up two others for the Sea Dogs (24-3-2), while Stephen MacAulay and Zack Phillips also scored.

Tye McGinn and Raphael Lafontaine replied for Gatineau (19-9-4).

Drakkar 3 Oceanic 2

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Raphael Bussieres' power-play goal with five minutes left to play was the winner as the Drakkar slipped by Rimouski.

Lukas Cingel also scored with the man advantage for Baie-Comeau (3-21-8), while Mikael Langlois added a single.

Alex Belzile had his 16th of the season for the Oceanic (15-17-1), while Ryan Kavanagh took advantage of a power play.

Sagueneens 8 Screaming Eagles 4

At Chicoutimi, Que., Nicolas Therrien had a pair of goals and a pair of assists as the Sagueneens dropped Cape Breton.

Alexandre Lavoie scored and had two assists for Chicoutimi (11-15-5), while Jeremy Barriault, Billy Lacasse and Eric Gelinas had a goal and a helper each. Emrik Guillemette and Matus Matis chipped in as well.

Morgan Ellis struck twice for the Screaming Eagles (10-19-3), while Nick Parker had a short-handed marker. Vincent Boudreau-Plouffe scored at even strength.

Rocket 6 Wildcats 3

At Charlottetown, Jamie MacIntyre scored twice to lift P.E.I. over Moncton.

Travis McIsaac and Ben Duffy had power-play goals for the Rocket (15-13-2). Adam Polasek and Philippe Paradis added markers of their own.

Devon MacAusland and Brett Malone responded for the Wildcats (18-10-4). Scott Trask was the first scorer of the night just 55 seconds into the game.

Remparts 6 Cataractes 2

At Quebec City, Ryan Bourque was the first and last scorer in the game as the Remparts handled Shawinigan.

Joel Champagne, Axel Rioux, Alexis Dufour and Brendan Duke rounded out the attack for Quebec (21-7-2).

Anton Zlobin and Maximilien Le Sieur supplied the offence for the Cataractes (16-10-3).

Huskies 3 Mooseheads 2

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Jessyko Bernard's power-play goal at the end of the second period was the eventual winner as the Huskies edged Halifax.

Jerome Raymond and Alexandre Beauregard also scored for Rouyn-Noranda (4-24-2).

Matthew Boudreau and Charles Bety tallied for the Mooseheads (10-19-1).
