Five Canadian women have been chosen to join Kelly Ripa, co-host of Live! with Regis and Kelly, for a "Girls Night Out Getaway" in Las Vegas this weekend.

Taped segments from the trip are scheduled to air Dec. 2 on Live! with Regis and Kelly, which is broadcast in Canada on CTV.

Notably, the five Toronto women work together on a TV show, Rich Bride, Poor Bride, which airs on Slice.

After Regis Philbin and Ripa announced details of the Vegas contest last month, TV director Misty Tyson wrote a letter describing the challenges she and her friends have faced in the past few years: Cancer, a miscarriage, loss of loved ones, breakups, etc.

The overall theme of friends sticking together in tough times clearly resonated with Philbin and Ripa.

The five women headed to Vegas to party with Ripa are Tyson, Mercedez DiNino DeCastro, Heidi Allen, Jenny Couke-Cosgrove and Spiria Fearon.
