CALGARY -- Skeleton racer Jeff Pain is retiring after a 15-year career.
The 39-year-old from Calgary made the announcement today at the Olympic Hall of Fame.
Pain won two world championships and a silver medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
He revealed today that he competed at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics with abdominal injuries suffered just a month before the Games.
He finished ninth.
Pain recorded 10 victories and 22 podium finishes over 74 career World Cup appearances.
Pain and his wife Aly plan to make appearances at public speaking engagements in the future. They'll speak to military families about their experience managing his extended absences while competing overseas.
